Does the style of you hair affect your behaviour?

When my sons were small, I cut their hair very, very short. To my horror, I noticed that their behaviour changed from calm and happy, to obnoxious pains in the neck! They were absolutely dreadful and strangely, this awful behaviour lessened as I allowed their hair to grow.

Have you seen any similar reactions in your children, or have you yourself experienced a change of behaviour or confidence depending on your hairstyle?

I have short spikey hair and i am lovely thank you

Longer hair would make you seem more feminine and they probably responded to that. I know that when I'm having a bad hair day, nothing else seems to work out either. I believe you're onto something!!

The connection to ones hair is a misnomer, however the individual response to the children having an attitudinal change is all probability connected to the developmental age and stage of the children. As they develop their own personalities and styles and decide what they like or not results in their own individuality immersing. They are children and sometimes they don't like having their cut short because they don't look like their friends or because they are now deemed cool by their social group. Hang in there it does not get any easier but always a pleasure.

Funny you mentioned this b/c I've noticed the same thing with little boys. But then, I adore them more if they have a cute hairstyle, so maybe I overlook the bad behavior.

When I was in kindergarten, I was bullied by a little "Brutus" with a crew cut, so maybe that's why.

For myself.. a new hairstyle/new color definitely upps my confidence. I recommend a trip to the stylist if you are feeling blue and blah.

What an intriguing question! I think you're right - actors know that different hairstyles and/or hats play a large part in creating a character. I know I feel a lot more confident if my hair has turned out right for once! Also, behaviour is influenced by others' expectations to some extent - if you treat a child as naughty he probably will be. When your boys had short hair they may have looked a bit 'yobby' and been treated as such - or they may have felt 'naughty', as if dressed up as pirates for example.

I think that it does as do clothes we wear. This mat be partly due to the reaction from other people but also because we 'act the part'

I definately feel more confident if I know I look good, dont you?

I remember my sons watching a film on TV about two really good friends - they were really nice to each other for ages after. I realised how much what they see affects them
