Question about hair damaged by chemical straightener - Stylists please answer!?

I had fine thin naturally curly hair that was broken off a lot all over by the chi permanent straightener system. It should have never been done on my baby fine hair. This happened back in October of last year. I have had it cut numerous times since then and it is now in a semi-short layered style - not quite chin length - sides are shorter than the back. I guess some of my curl is growing back in because some days it has some wave to it in the top and back but not on the sides. Other days it just lays flat and I have to curl the sides under to give them some fluff. Those familiar with the chi permanent straightener, will my roots ever grow back out curly and frizzy again or does this process go into the roots and do so much damage that my hair will never be curly again and won't grow again. I'm taking all sorts of vitamins and biotin and have had my thyroid and hormones tested. I've been to two dermatologists. They all just say time....I'm not a patient person, and I am sad.

i specialize in permanent straighting at my salon and i do not like the chi method and that is the problem that i came across. your roots are going to grow back curly, no product as far as color or straightener will go into your follicles. do you want to stay straight? if so, i use the Grund system and i've never had a problem with it.

anyway, the trick is moister and protein. if you can find Grund anywhere around where you live, get their products. otherwise, patience is a virtue, just wait it out and if you want help finding the products, shoot me a email.

Been there... just keep on getting it cut short short until it is all grown out and NEVER perm hair like yours again! I had to get all my very long hair cut like only an inch long after my disaster (years ago) and just wait for it to grow out. No way around it, it will never be nice again at any point where the chemicals touched your hair. New hair should be fine. Special shampoos may make the ruined hair look better in the meantime, but what I did was just bite the bullet and cut it all off, I had to, I couldn't stand the frizzy mess, couldn't even run a comb through it. If it bothers you so much in the meantime, get a wig, it is the only way... and don't bother with expensive shampoos and garbage that makes no difference in the end. The only way to get nice hair again is to grow out the ruined parts and cut it off. Go through magazines and find a style you really like, there are cute really short styles out there!

Allot of people come into my shop with the same problem just go to a local hair store and buy some coco butter rub it on your scalp grab your curling iron and curl your hair now repeat putting the coco butter but don't keep curling every day just every other day OK and you'll be fine.

when you straighten your hair don't put it on too high that's why it damaged your hair. You should also oil your hair and wash it everyday for it getting more longer. I prefer olay pro-v shampoo and conditioner it would work GREAT.

Anything can shock your hair and change it to the complete opposite. Having babies, being sick for a period of time, getting bad chemical jobs. It is something we can't explain. I would suggest not having any chemical treatments done for at least one year. Get your hair cut every 6-8 weeks, only 1/4 inch at a time. I would schedule a conditioning treatmeant with every haircut and also do my own treatments at home. I would suggest using masks and serums for conditioning treatments as opposed to hot oils which are a temporary fix. Talk to your hair stylist she knows your hair best and see what she thinks, I am sure her suggestions will be similar to mine. Good luck. Nixon is a great product to use to regrow hair. Your stylist should be able to purchase that for you.
